Question by worldhelper5: what percentage of dicounts do electronic stores like best buy and circuit city give on black friday?
Last year my brother went to one of the stores participating in black friday and got a toshiba laptop for about 300.00 and i just wanna know an estimate of what discount to exoect on things like laptops and digital cameras and things like that thanx.

Each “black Friday” varies from year to year. I worked for Best Buy for over 2 years and worked 3 black Fridays. There was always the very cheap laptops and cameras. But they keep everything hush hush about what is going to be on sale and each store is only required to have x amount of the product, say 20 of the dirt cheap laptops. If you are not a general manager, manager or supervisor you really don’t know what is on sale. There are sites that claim to have a copy of their ad and personally I don’t know if they are real or not (it is too busy for anyone working there to even bother looking). But my guess is that someone that works in corporate leaks them out. As far as I know, there is not a set percentage they give off. I guess that’s more in the corporate side of the business. So your best bet would be to wait for them to put their ad out in the paper, usually the day before Thanksgiving, look it over and decide whether or not to stand in line for hours, probably in the freezing cold!
